History
The park, earlier known as Washington Park, hosted baseball from at least 1896. The Packers played there from their first season in 1919; a fence and admission charges followed in 1920, the city bought the park for $80,000 in 1921, and seating was expanded for the team's first NFL season. The Packers beat the Minnesota Marines 7-6 there on October 23, 1921.
After the 1922 season construction of East High School began on the site, and the Packers moved to Bellevue Park. A Packers Heritage Trail marker now stands beside the school.
Why it matters: First home field of the Green Bay Packers.
