History
Minnesota began playing at Northrop Field in 1899 after years at Athletic Park and other grounds. After the 1902 season the field was moved and new seating allowed crowds of up to 20,000, and it was sometimes called Greater Northrop Field.
The first Little Brown Jug game against Michigan was played there in 1903. The Gophers stayed through 1923 and moved to Memorial Stadium in 1924.
