History
The Multnomah Kennel Club bought a 90-acre Wood Village site in January 1956 and opened the track there in 1957 as Fairview Park, after earlier seasons at Multnomah Stadium and Portland Meadows. Renamed Murray Kemp Greyhound Park in 1978 and Multnomah Greyhound Park in 1991, it drew a record 611,430 visitors in 1987.
In December 2004 the owner declined to renew the building lease, ending greyhound racing in Oregon. The site sat empty until the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde bought it in 2015, and demolition began in June 2016.
Why it matters: It was Oregon's last greyhound track; its closure ended the sport in the state.
