History

Greyhound racing at the Commerce City track began in 1949. By 2008 it was the last Colorado venue with live dog racing, and racing ended that year after kennel owners and track officials could not agree on the rest of the season.

The Commerce City Urban Renewal Authority bought the 65-acre property in August 2011 and finished demolition in 2013. A Boys & Girls Club opened in 2015, construction of housing began in October 2020, and the first residents moved in during November 2021.

Why it matters: It was the last track in Colorado to offer live greyhound racing.
