History

Approved by Dubuque voters in an April 1984 bond referendum, Dubuque Greyhound Park opened on June 1, 1985, as Iowa's first pari-mutuel track. Slots arrived in 1995, and the property was later renamed Mystique (2009) and Q Casino (2017).

The city-owned facility, run by the non-profit Dubuque Racing Association, announced in October 2021 that racing would end, and the last races were run in May 2022.

Why it matters: It was Iowa's first pari-mutuel racetrack.
