History

Sodrac Park opened in 1955 just off Interstate 29 in North Sioux City. Wagering fell from $22.8 million in 1985 to $10.5 million the next year, and Joseph Linsey sold the track before the 1990 season. In 1993 the track announced it would no longer offer live dog racing, though simulcasts continued.

The bleachers, kennels and other movable assets were auctioned in October 1996. On April 24, 1998, the Kennel Club building, then being demolished for new development, burned down. A home now stands on part of the former property.

Why it matters: It was the Sioux City area's greyhound track for nearly four decades.
