History

Rebel Coliseum opened on February 21, 1966, and was renamed for C. M. "Tad" Smith in 1972. It served Ole Miss men's and women's basketball until the Sandy and John Black Pavilion opened; the last regular games were in December 2015 and January 2016.

Ole Miss staged throwback games there from 2023, the last on November 14, 2025. The university planned demolition for summer 2026, and in February 2026 the Mississippi Department of Archives and History opened comment on a demolition permit.
