History

Built for $7 million and completed in 1979, the center hosted the U.S. Men's Clay Court Championships and the tennis events of the 1987 Pan American Games. From 1988 to 2009 it was home to the Indianapolis Tennis Championships, known as the RCA Championships.

After the tournament was sold and moved to Atlanta, the center closed in August 2010, citing maintenance costs and IUPUI's need for the land, and was demolished.
