History

District commissioners approved the wooden ballpark at Florida and Trinidad Avenues NE on March 20, 1901, and the new Washington Senators played there for the American League's first three seasons. Left field measured 290 feet.

The Senators had wanted the National League's old Boundary Field, and they moved there for 1904, taking this park's stands with them. By 1907 no baseball field remained on the site.

Why it matters: It was the Washington Senators' home for the American League's first three seasons.

Where sources disagree (1)
  • Wikipedia's infobox lists the Washington Potomacs (Eastern Colored League, 1923–1924) as tenants although the park is said to have closed in 1903; the article does not explain this.
